Pectol's Pyramid (on right) is viewed from the trail to Hickman's Bridge. Ephraim Portman Pectol was a Mormon bishop in Torrey, Utah who, along with his brother-in-law, Joseph Hickman, promoted stories and photographs of the Waterpocket Fold area leading to President Roosevelt establishing Capitol Reef as a National Monument in 1937. Capitol Reef became a National Park in 1971.
